Philbert Tsai is an assistant teaching professor in the Physics Department at University of California, San Diego (UCSD). His current primary focus is on teaching and curriculum development for the Physics 1-series lectures and lab courses, which are designed to teach physics to life science majors.
In the recent past, Phil has also served as a project scientist and also as Lab Coordinator and Lab Instructor for the Quantitative Biology Hacker Lab. His research specialization is nonlinear optical imaging with an emphasis on neurovascular structure and function. He is the co-inventor and co-developer of All-Optical Histology, MPScope, VIDA, PoRTS windows, the deformable membrane lens, and the Ultra-wide field two photon microscope.
